Lang Shining has a bit to prove now and the race can go to FOXHAVEN as a consequence. Pat Charmings' experienced eight-year-old won the last time he was sighted in this grade (almost exactly a year ago) and with the ground in his favour he looks sure to run a big race. Stamina reservations abound with Lang Shining, Sgt Schultz has a rather unattractive turf record despite gaining his sole victory here, whilst Grande Caiman looks out of love with racing and is overlooked despite the longer trip being firmly in his favour. With Rowan Light and Penton Hook another couple who might not see out the race with too much gusto both are fairly readily passed over.
