Athar, Polish World and Hollow Ridge are the three against the field in this apparently open affair where there is little form to work on and preference is for Polish World. Polish World, trained by Ed Dunlop and the mount of Jamie Spencer cost over half a million dollars as a yearling and is a son of Danzig. Out of a dam who is a half sister to Orpen and a classy sprint related family, Polish World can be expected to have plenty of speed and the trainer is fully capable of having his charge ready first time out. Hollow Ridge is a daughter of Beat Hollow out of a classy Unfuwain mare, Bolas who excelled over middle distances. Richard Hughes is on board the Khaled Abdullah owned filly and the suspicion is that she may need longer distances to show her best. However, she is well bred and is bound to possess a touch of class so cannot be discounted at this seven furlong trip especially with the ground having a bit of cut and therefore stretching stamina a little. Richard Hannon's newcomers always command respect and although not as expensive as some at 57,000 guineas, Athar hails from a prolific family and is related to a multiple winner in the States at trips over a mile plus. He looks sure to go well. Polish World though is expected to make a winning debut.
