Jake Black was an easy three-length winner at Newcastle last week and should be able to follow up under a 5lb penalty so gets the vote over Ile Michel and Turtle Patriarch. The last mentioned has failed to stay further in recent outings and should appreciate the drop back in trip so has to be respected, while Scottish River has slipped to an attractive mark and cannot be discounted. Senor Eduardo has disappointed this season but the faster surface today may help, while Rani Two has claims on the pick of his form although a bigger threat is likely to come from Ile Michel. The Lady Herries-trained gelding has shown promise in two starts this term over inadequate trips and now steps back up in distance. Jake Black won with plenty in hand at Newcastle last week though and is taken to follow up under his penalty.
