In depth

Verdict

Capeland was never travelling at Ascot after winning at Wincanton and pulled up. But his presence at the head of the weights in this has probably benefited stablemate Grand Sancy. Though reportedly having a breathing problem when disappointing last time, the Nicholls’ novice has been given time to recover and this is his trip. Umbrigado is on a steep upward curve and there should also be plenty more to come from Kempton scorer Killer Clown. The Big Bite has been running well over 2m and stays this trip but SENIOR CITIZEN might be the pick of the weights. The ground has come right for Alan King’s charge and he jumped well on his handicap debut at Aintree, despite being thrown in at the deep end. Kempton runner-up Pistol Whipped may be best of the rest.
