    Verdict

    Red Epaulette won the first race of the new season over the course and distance but couldn't cope over an extra furlong under his penalty on a return visit last weekend. Real Force was a 25/1 chance when landing a course and distance maiden where he came with a storming late run to snatch the spoils. The filly Windham Belle was almost eight lengths behind in that latter contest and showed the value of the form by scoring at Dundalk. PISTOLETTO, brother to a Grade 1 winner in the USA and half-brother to four other winners, looked very smart when scoring easily at Tipperary and it will be a surprise if he doesn't remain unbeaten.

    Red Epaulette (IRE) 15-8fav (9-7) Soon chased leader on inner in 2nd, pushed along from 2f out, ridden from 1f out and soon no impression, dropped to 3rd inside final furlong, 3rd of 7, 5 3/4l behind Siskin (9-2) at Naas 6f gd in May.

    Windham Belle (IRE) 6-1 (8-6) Soon led, pressed and wandered slightly inside final furlong, kept on best, won at Dundalk 5f mdn pol in May beating Glow Worm (8-6) by 3/4l, 6 ran.
