Verdict

Grand Diamond has a good record at the track and he must be considered, however King Of Legend, STOIC LEADER and Carpe Diem may be the three to focus on and we tentatively side with Stoic Leader. Roger Fisher's gelding is now nine years of age but he has shown this season that he still retains plenty of enthusiasm, perhaps highlighted by his recent two-length fourth to Intersky Charm at Carlisle. This mark of 65 looks within his reach and on ground that suits he is fancied to record his 17th career win, and his sixth at this track. Al Wasef needs to improve on recent performances, the drop in trip looks ok for Grand Diamond, whilst Forbidden is a good animal at this level under these conditions. King Of Legend won well at Ayr last time but he has a 5lb higher mark to cope with today, although compared to his all-weather mark he still looks fairly treated. San Silvestro won a seller here earlier this month, whilst Funky Munky needs a market check on his handicap bow. Mister Jingles looks poised to win at some point this season but he has a poor draw and he needs his own way out in front, preferably over seven furlongs. Carpe Diem races too freely to be too confident about his chances of lasting home, especially if taken on for the lead, whilst market support for Winrob would be interesting as he drops back in trip with Paul Mulrennan booked for the ride. Another tightly-knit handicap this, but we will plump for the experienced Stoic Leader.
