In depth

Verdict

Ebac is probably better than he showed when down the field behind the useful Rasharrow on his only start in a bumper but can hardly be backed with any confidence and a chance is taken with Water Taxi, who gets the vote ahead of How Art Thou. The last mentioned has shown promise in bumpers and in two starts over hurdles in Ireland and has to be respected on his first start in this country. King's Protector has shown only a modicum of ability so far, while Chief Dan George has been beaten by two decent types so far and should appreciate what is effectively a drop in class without being good enough. Silver Seeker looks no better than plating class and of more interest may be Summer Special, who has finished in the frame in all but one of his seven starts and is likely to be thereabouts again. Dalawan showed promise in bumpers and may be better than he showed on his hurdling debut but the vote goes to Ferdy Murphy's Water Taxi, who was unexposed on the flat and has shown enough in better company than this over hurdles to suggest that he is more than capable of taking a hand here.
