The shortlist is Salute The General, Baileys Polka and, maybe, Curbridge Bell, with the vote going to Salute The General. Second at Lingfield last time to Natural Force, Salute The General has the best form on offer here and gets a solid call. An obvious danger is Baileys Polka, who finished second to Mark Johnston's Cote d'Argent on soft going at Musselburgh on his racetrack debut. Mick Channon, who has had a winner recently, runs Curbridge Bell, who has something to like on breeding, and, being a half-brother to the Oaks winner Lady Carla, it is disappointing to see Supa Tramp debuting at this low level. The high-class Perryston View's half-sister Ansells Joy has not really shown too much in two starts to date, and give the market the once over regarding Prima Markova. Katsumoto showed improvement from run one to two so can't be ruled out in a weak affair, while, finally, being an Elite Racing-owned half-sister by Hernando to Dancing Bay, Spanish Lace should be watched in the betting. It is hard to build a strong case for the others, although Guanyin runs in first-time cheekpieces. All of which returns us to the selection, which is Salute The General.
