From a shortlist containing High Arctic, John Charles and Bazelle, we will side with High Arctic. Third to Emerald Bay at Haydock when last seen in June, High Arctic has been contesting better races than this, in general, thus far and, if straight after his break, holds good claims here. It is interesting to see David Elsworth running John Charles here, and he should be noted in the betting, while King Forever ran quite well at Newbury in April, but seems to have regressed, and a return to the promise of his Nottingham debut run would give Colinca's Lad a chance, but his last two runs have been shocking. Scamperdale's fourth to Mohafazaat at Lingfield last time affords him a slight chance (Monteleone was further behind there), while Townsville showed some improvement at Lingfield last time, and Bazelle, placed four times in nine starts on Turf and running to a mark in the high-70s in the process, has to be high on the list of ones to consider. Danse Spectre cost 100,000 euros and, while she showed very little on her debut, she runs in a first-time tongue-tie now. As we say, it's modest fayre, with the vote going to High Arctic.
