Montillia is the pick over Jun Fan, with New Options and Shatin Leader a couple to conjure with for place purposes at least. The finale is yet another poor affair, featuring many out-of-form individuals, and on latest evidence it is Montillia that should take some catching. Chris Wall's four-year-old was successful off a mark of 50 here last summer, and has not had much racing since. Two lacklustre efforts on the all-weather were followed by two much more promising efforts on Turf, at Folkestone, and more recently here at Musselburgh where she was sent off as favourite. A poor draw in stall 16 proved her undoing that day, as she was outgunned by the veteran Sharp Hat from stall four, but she is housed in box three this time, and will be a popular choice to make amends, with little to beat. Her nearest rival is Jun Fan who has been placed twice here from three visits, but he has it to do off 10stone. New Options and Shatin Leader were both well behind the selection last time, but the latter has since finished fourth in a Hamilton claimer over six furlongs, and could sneak a place of his low weight. The market may throw up a potential danger, but Montillia is best of a moderate bunch and can emphasise that fact here.
