Rainbow Fox is taken to outpoint Ronnie Howe, with Our Toy Soldier, Mamora Reef and Davaye all likely to give a good account. Rainbow Fox still has plenty of growing up to do judged on his behaviour so far, but he so nearly obliged at Carlisle 12 days ago when failing by a head to beat Ponty Rossa, with Mamora Reef right behind, and can go one better here. By all accounts the son of Foxhound was coltish after that last race, and when he settles down will surely pay to follow, given the ability that he undoubtedly has. Ronnie Howe failed narrowly to beat the favourite Bollin Franny at Ripon in what was probably just a moderate juvenile contest, but his stable is in cracking form at present, while Our Toy Soldier was not expected to get anywhere near Adaptation at Hamilton and lines up with more experience than most. Davaye was a bit keen first time out but ran well next time at Haydock and should find a race in due course, but on this occasion it is Rainbow Fox that can open his account.
