A wide open contest in which Choreographic, Fairy Monarch and Never Say Deva form the shortlist and we side with Choreographic. A total of 20 runs without victory is scarcely something of a recommendation but a step up in trip has looked long overdue and there has to be an obvious chance against horses that have failed to trouble the places. Fairy Monarch is fully exposed in handicaps and is the sort of horse that banded stakes were meant for. Effective on any going, it would be no surprise to see him supported on this occasion. Never Say Deva is a very rare banded stakes runner for Mick Channon. The filly has struggled in more traditional terrain and is somewhat unproven with give underfoot. Nevistown has failed to build upon a victory at Southwell last winter and is returned to this level after a series of modest efforts in handicaps. Frimley's Matterry may find this trip a little stretching on the stamina so could be one to avoid despite the drop in class. Capitalise has been on various fishing missions over longer trips and is tried over a mile again. Choreographic gets the nod in a difficult race for punters.
