In depth

Verdict

With amateurs still not allowed to ride in the UK, Harry Cobden gets the leg-up on ALCALA, who is a light of other days but should have the edge here. Seven-times a winner over fences, he couldn't hold the late thrust of the prolific point-to-point winner Salvadore over the track and trip last month but had Federici well beaten and can go one better. Looking Well last won in 2019 when landing a veterans' chase at Doncaster. His last two runs have been over hurdles but if he retains a fraction of his ability he can give the selection a race.
