In depth

Verdict

East Tycoon is taken to continue Tony McCoy¿s winning run and get the better of Crathorne and Ela Re and collect this lucrative prize. Sue Smith¿s Ela Re landed a bit of a touch when scoring at Hexham last time and although raised twelve pounds for that facile success, he can play a leading role here in pursuit of this big purse. He may turn out to be well handicapped and could well have improved from last season. Crathorne is a versatile performer, scoring on the Flat at Musselburgh in May, and winning over hurdles at Southwell last month. He too may have a little in hand of the handicapper, held up at Southwell, he won nicely. After a winless run over fences, East Tycoon appreciated a return to the smaller obstacles when scoring at Stratford this week, and with the assistance of the champion jockey, who is in terrific form just now, East Tycoon can prove too strong for his rivals under a five pound penalty.
