chased leaders, ridden approaching 3 out, led 2 out, ridden out
led, ridden approaching 3 out, headed 2 out, weakened flat
held up, reminder and behind approaching 9th
held up towards rear, ridden along 9th, never dangerous
tracked leader, weakened and lost place from 11th, tailed off from 3 out
held up in touch, hit first, blundered 11th and 12th, in 3rd when quickly pulled up before 3 out
in rear, hit 2nd, headway approaching 4 out, ridden approaching next, hit 2 out, went 2nd last, kept on, no chance with winner
Just an average contest, but competitive nonetheless. Strongtrooper and Dragon King cross swords again having met at Fakenham last month, where the latter came out on top that day. They meet on similar terms again this time so in theory he should come out on top again. However, Strongtrooper has since run a sound race in defeat at Wetherby and may be capable of reversing the form. He gets the vote to get his head in front for the first time in over two and a half years. Dragon King has a tendency to jump to his right so he should be at home on this track, but now 11, he is hardly likely to be getting any better. Guilsborough Gorse has been running well enough, but has plenty to find with the selection on their running at Wetherby, while Misty Ridge is another who cannot be left out of calculations, if on a going day, but that is a big if.
