Capone was thrust into Grade 2 company on his debut at Doncaster and ran well so it was no surprise when he landed the odds at Ludlow, though he'll need to do more as the runner-up has been well beaten subsequently. LISHEEN CASTLE, runner-up in Listed company on the Flat, made a successful debut over timber at Wetherby where he took a while to warm to his task. He'll have come on a bundle for the experience but will need to have done so as Irish raider Bachelor is progressing at a rate of knots judging by his run at Leopardstown where he had just been joined by the well-regarded Sir Erec when falling at the last. Faldo made a very encouraging start over hurdles when chasing home Laskadine at Warwick while Praeceps, three times a winner on the Flat, also made a nice debut behind the progressive Song For Someone at Newbury where the rest were well beaten. Dr Richard Kimble, four times a winner on the level, couldn't get to Fanzio on his hurdling bow at Newcastle but that was another encouraging debut.
