Argot was a close-up fourth on his debut at Market Rasen in December and followed that up with a second to the useful Buckwheat at Catterick, though he was only a head in front of Sweeping Rock on the latter occasion. John Spearing's charge was then third over this course and distance eight days ago, when Arthamint was only fifth, and looks a sure-fire future winner but could find SCOOP A POT a tough nut to crack today. A P McCoy's mount was beaten 23 lengths by Otago Trail at Wincanton on his hurdles bow but the winner is held in high regard and Philip Hobbs' gelding can find the necessary improvement to land this. Flat winner Low Key looks best of the rest.
