In depth

Verdict

This fairly modest bumper should be well withing the scope of Tara Queen, and she gets the nod over newcomer Val du Ciron and Nakoma. Carl Llewellyn's achievements with his bumper runners this season have been well documented, and we look to his four-year-old filly Tara Queen to add to the tally. Unplaced behind the useful Fiddling Again on her Newbury debut in December, she then stayed on to be fourth on slightly better ground at Folkestone on her next outing in February. Both those races were over a shorter distance than today's, and with conditions to suit here, she should make a bold bid to open her account. The fly in the ointment is the Henrietta Knight debutant Val du Ciron, who could be anything. Although French-bred, he is related to winning Irish horse Dix Villez, and if anywhere near fit, can prove troublesome. Nakoma shaped well enough when fifth on her debut here in December, and quite simply, the market will reveal if anything else is fancied. We though will pin our hopes on Tara Queen.
