A poor contest gets proceedings under way but something has to win and the principals look to be Karakum, Leophin Dancer and Horizon Hill and the tentative vote goes to Leophin Dancer. The selection was a fair fourth behind Ornikovsky last time out and if he can reproduce that effort here he will be hard to beat under conditions that suit.Karakum rates the main danger on his latest fifth behind Tom Bell he is dropping in grade here and is sure to strip fitter so he will be far away. Horizon Hill is another worthy of respect on his best form. However he has become very disappointing of late but the booking of Timmy Murphy catches the eye. Of the remainder Mabel Riley was a good second behind Galey River last time and that form has since been franked. However she is far from consistent so can not be backed with any confidence this is a trappy race and stakes should be kept to a minimum but for the winner we return to Leophin Dancer.
