It wasn't the greatest of maidens that Talab won at Bellewstown but he did it nicely and looks a real staying type. Mayday Frontier has been finding little in the closing stages over shorter trips and it remains to be seen if he can improve over this distance but there are no such concerns about COOLAVANNY GAFFER. Twice a winner between the flags earlier this year, he stepped up to 3m for the first time under Rules at Kilbeggan a fortnight ago and comfortably landed a maiden. A mark of 107 doesn't appear excessive and he looks the type to carry on improving. Lough Ferrib is on a four-timer over timber and showed himself in fine shape by scoring on the Flat at Down Royal on Friday. He's on a high enough mark but along with the confirmed stayer Gallery Man should give a good account of himself.
