    Verdict

Not the easiest race to assess as there are a number of unexposed types set to pit their skills against the obvious selection of Ganymede, who will take all the beating if running up to the form of his last two starts. The presence of the well-bred Safirah, whose pedigree suggests at least this trip will be ideal for her, and Alphecca, who has not been seen out since disappointing in her only start for Sir Michael Stoute last season, does cloud the picture and strong moves for either in the betting could prove to be significant. Whereas St Barchan, being out of a sprinter, makes limited appeal or his debut over this trip. And the fact that he has already been gelded sounds the alarm bells before he has even hit the track. Therefore, in the absence of a reliable market guide, this is probably best left to Ganymede, who will rarely be presented with as good an opportunity to put his experience to good use.
