Verdict

The Last Mohican can reap the rewards of consistency, with Private Seal and Antony Ebeneezer others to consider in the opener. Paul Howling has booked Frankie Dettori for The Last Mohican, and with a good draw in stall one, the five-year-old can finally end a frustrating run. His latest fourth over a furlong longer here last time was his best run for quite a while, and the drop back in trip should not be a worry. A dual-purpose performer, he lines up on the back of a run over hurdles at Towcester and in a weak contest can finally rid himself of the maiden tag that has been his since his career began in 2001. Private Seal can give him most to do as he has posted a number of placed efforts, including here in selling company five days ago. He was unlucky in running that day but his come from behind style will always leave him with a bit to do. Antony Ebeneezer has achieved something most of the others have not-having actually visited the winner's enclosure, most recently when landing an apprentice affair at Southwell 11 days ago. He has yet to prove that he likes the Polytrack though and is passed over. Best of the rest may be Little Richard who has course form, but with Frankie in the plate, The Last Mohican may finally come good.
