With none of the nine runner shave raced previously this is probably not a race to get heavily involved in but those with more solid claims than most include Bold Marc, Kristikhab, Tara Tara and Stanbury with preference for the last mentioned. Mick Channon won this event 12 months ago with Straw Poll and there is every reason to suggest that he may be responsible for the winner again. Stanbury is a 130,000gns half-brother to useful sprinter Be Mindful and it would come as no surprise to see her making a winning debut against some rivals who make limited appeal on pedigree. Karl Burke's Bold Marc is a half-brother to three winners but is bred for stamina and may already want further; a comment that also applies to Alan Berry's Kristikhab. Of more interest may be John Quinn's Tara Tara, a well-related daughter of Fayruz. Mick Easterby has his team in good form at present so Word Perfect has to be respected but the yard is hardly well known for their success with first time out two-year-olds. There may be very little for backers to go on then but it will be a surprise if Mick Channon's Stanbury is not good enough to make a winning debut.
