In depth

Verdict

Simba Sun can step up on his promising debut to account for Tarif and Stagehand, with the rest up against it. The opening race, run on the Turf course, should not take much winning, and in Simba Sun, Ralph Beckett appears to have just the right ammunition. The son of Intikhab was nearest at the finish when a close third on his Chepstow debut over six furlongs, and so the longer trip here should enable him to make a bold bid. Tarif has had two runs already, the latest of which saw him finish fourth on the Fibresand at Southwell. He has to step up a gear, but can give the selection a race at least, as can Stagehand, although he did not seem to stride out comfortably at Salisbury, and on breeding will be better served over shorter. However, he too can boast a bit of experience and can get close to Simba Sun. Not close enough though, and it is the latter that can progress enough to open his account.
