In depth

Verdict

Whaxaar has obvious claims here and can get the better of Dr Dream and Cyril The Squirrel. The Xaar gelding was well supported on his first attempt at this trip at Kempton in December and ran on well to finish fourth in a stronger contest than this. He's run two decent races in handicaps over the same course and distance since then and holds every chance on the book. Dr Dream has been running well in selling hurdles, albeit without winning, and should be able to give a decent account of himself if showing a similar level of form back on the level. Cyril The Squirrel has had just four starts and may have more to offer but it's hard to get too excited about his chances on the evidence to date. The remaining runners don't jump off the page and Whaxaar gets the vote.
