Louphole appears to have been found a reasonable opening to make his return to racing a profitable experience, with Sparkwell, Jayanjay and Desert Light fancied to pose the biggest problems today. Desert Light acts well here and, having gone close on a couple of occasions recently, he has to be respected in this company. A wide draw makes life tougher than ideal for him though and his 7lb claimer will need to be on his game to grab a prominent position at an early stage. Jayanjay was a disappointing favourite at Kempton on Saturday and needs to quickly banish that memory. He is very well treated from his current mark but needs to confirm that is not simply on the downgrade these days. Sparkwell is still relatively unexposed and has a leading chance on the best of his efforts. His 6lb penalty is fare and a bold attempt looks assured. However, Louphole, who rounded off last season on a high, is reintroduced at a realistic level. His trainer, Peter Makin, has done well with the small number of runners he has sent out recently and, as the booking of Eddie Ahern suggests that he means business, all the bases have been covered for the four-year-old's first start on the All Weather campaign.
