WELSH ARTIST is the tentative selection in this contest with Mint Whip and Premium Charge others likely to figure in the finish. Amanda Perrett hasn't had too many winners of late though her horses have made their way into the frame. Welsh Artist has three quick runs in November to gain a handicap mark and force the handicapper into a decision. He stays seven furlongs without too many issues so it will be interesting to see whether there is any money beforehand. Mint Whip won a maiden at the course of six furlongs. She is a half-sister to winners over a mile so it is to be hoped that there is more to come over further. Premium Charge made all to win a weak race at Southwell last week and landed a few decent bets in the process. Vito Volterra won a seller recently though has not been such a potent threat in handicaps. Abhar came up against an above average sort at the course in January and while one cannot necessarily argue that compensation awaits, it would be no surprise to see him go close. Bookiesindex Girl seems to have plenty of weight at present. The market will give us a fair idea of what to anticipate from the handicap debutants and of those, Welsh Artist seems the most open to progression.
