Patavium Prince, Mafaheem and Alfresco form the short list here and we will side with Mafaheem. The Andrew Haynes-trained selection won over this trip at Yatmourth last time out and has just a 3lb rise to contend with. The gelding has shown decent form on soft and heavy ground in the past and is taken to follow up. Patavium Prince would much prefer fast ground, but did go close on good to soft last time and is in with a definite chance of just 1lb higher at a track he enjoys. Alfresco proved he handles conditions last time out and is on an attractive mark compared to his all weather rating, though he is patently better on that surface. Morse won't mind getting his toe in and remains on the same mark as a good recent Haydock run so he is respected. Trinculo is not the force he was, but he loves cut in the ground and a return to form on this much lower mark than he was was rated is not out of the question. Even so, we like the look of Mafaheem here.
