In depth

Verdict

A competitive handicap here with plenty of last time winners but the turf going is soft and that should suit both Castano and Stand In Flames and we will side with the former. Castano landed a soft ground apprentice handicap at Salisbury last time and does love to get his toe in. Anything around this trip looks fine and the assessor has dropped him 1lb which is nice, so we'll take the plunge. Stand In Flames was the easy winner of a c&d contest on soft last time and clearly looks a serious danger. Even so, that was no better race than this, but a 10lb rise will be tough to lump around here and so we'll just take on the Celtic Swing filly. The ground looks likely to take its toll on Romany Nights, and the same can be said of Night Wolf, while Dawson Creek has it to prove with plenty of cut in the ground, so we'll take mudlark Castano to score.
