Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Colmar Supreme makes plenty of appeal at this level and the 15lb she receives from Outlook may be more than enough to make the drop into a claimer worthwhile for this daughter of Woodborough. Zizou and Neardown Beauty are others that can go well at this level, while Fangorn Forest has an obvious chance at the weights if she can bounce back from a series of modest performances. Kevin Ryan's charge was highly tried after finishing third in the Hilary Needler in June and found herself outclassed in Group races at York and Ayr. This is a big drop in class for her, though, and it will come as no surprise to see her go well if she handles the surface. Neardown Beauty has course and distance experience and has shaped as if he has a race of this nature within him at some point. The drop in trip should help, but he needs to learn to settle better in his races and may be vulnerable near the finish as a result. Zizou, who cost 75,000euros as a foal, has bits and pieces of form that suggest he can take a hand in the finish. He is a half-brother to several winners over this trip and he is worth noting in the betting. Outlook also has to be respected on the pick of his efforts and, as there are no doubts about his ability to act on the track, he is shortlisted as a live threat. However, on a cautionary note, he struggled to get home over this trip in her first start for Nick Littmoden and faces a stiff test on these terms. Therefore, it can pay to side with Colmar Supreme, who made a very satisfactory All Weather debut at Wolverhampton last week. This is a much easier option for her and she is fancied to make the most of this ease in competition.
