INGENUE looks capable of defying a penalty to see off the likes of Mymateeric and Highland Homestead. The selection was a resounding six length winner from the in-form Goldan Jess over this trip at Catterick last time and tries this track for the first time. It looked as though handicap maestro Sir Mark Prescott had got her spot-on for that run, and given that he has had a number of recent multiple scorers then it would be no surprise to see another do just that and she looks well up to a race like this. Mymateeric has not won in 17 starts but the Jeff Pearce-trained gelding has now slipped to the sort of mark that is at least getting him involved over staying trips and he can be bang there again today. Highland Homestead has a 1m 5f Polytrack win at Great Leighs to his name, and he is on a reasonable mark, so he has to be respected although his small yard has had few runners lately so it is difficult to tell whether they are in form. Astroleo has bags of stamina and has dropped to a reasonable mark, but his best form on artificial surfaces has been at Southwell. Ja One is worth closer inspection coming from the connections she does and is worth another try over this far, but preference is for Ingenue.
