Zalkani can turn the tables on Wait For The Will, with Great View, Cormorant Wharf and Makai three likely dangers. Zalkani was beaten a length-and-a-half by Wait For The Will when they met at Wolverhampton seven days ago, but now reopposes on 7lb better terms, and in addition is back over a trip that will not tax his stamina as much. Wait For The Will in contrast shapes as though he needs 14-furlongs at least these days, and he will struggle if going back up the handicap. Great View goes well in these type of events, and in particular for Lorraine Ellison, so although he disappointed last time, can put that behind him to be in the shake-up today. He should hold Cormorant Wharf on their Newbury running, and should be backed for a place at least. Makai was bought out of Mark Johnston's yard after winning a Brighton seller over 10-furlongs, and was immediately stepped up in trip by John Bridger, showing no lack of stamina when hanging on for third over 13-furlongs here four days ago. He may well attempt to make all today, but it is doubtful whether he has the ability to hang on. Nevertheless, he and Blue Hedges should be involved, with preference for Zalkani who has a good chance at the weights.
