In depth

Verdict

Muntada is taken to see off the challenge of the Godolphin newcomer Unquenchable, with Feu d'Artifice, Calming Waters and Majestic Halo likely to be involved in the finish as well. Marcus Tregoning won this 12 months ago with Mohafazaat, and has high hopes of repeating the feat here with Muntada who has run any number of good races in defeat, in particular when third to Summer's Eve at Goodwood in June. She has failed to open her account yet, but it is not for the want of trying, and although her front-running style will always leave her susceptible to an attack from behind, we reckon that she can see them all off here on what is her all-weather debut. She was beaten by a Godolphin newcomer last time, so Unquenchable's trainer will no doubt know just what she needs to do to see off the selection, and indeed she could be anything, but we will opt for experience over potential on this occasion. Calming Waters and Feu d'Artifice were both placed last time, while Majestic Halo has been knocking at the door all season. They can all make things interesting, but we return to Muntada as the answer.
