In depth

Verdict

Kyle can finally open his account, with newcomer My Love Thomas taken to give him most to do. A disappointing turnout of just four assemble for the opener at the Surrey track, and the Richard Hannon-trained Kyle looks head and shoulders above the three that have previous racecourse experience. The son of Kyllachy has not been out of the first three yet in five career starts, and although first-time cheekpieces failed to do the trick at Windsor nine days ago, surely this moderate contest is well within his scope. Although this will be his first try on the Polytrack, he should have too much experience for the John Best pair Papradon and Hope Your Safe, so a bigger threat could well be Ed Dunlop's filly My Love Thomas who makes her debut. This daughter of Cadeaux Genereux cost 155,000gns and is reported to have been striding out well at home. With Eddie Ahern on board, it would be no surprise really if she were to prove good enough to oblige at the first time of asking, but we shall side with the more experienced Kyle.
