Resplendent Alpha sets the standard on what they have shown so far and is fancied to be too wily for Chief Operator and See In The Dark, who make the most appeal from the remainder. See In The Dark is now just 1lb higher in the ratings than he was for his success in Windsor back in July; so has a feasible chance of paying his way in a handicap in the near future. His sire, Night Shift, has produced many winners on the All Weather surfaces and a bold show would open up new avenues for his connections to explore with him in due course. Chief Operator - a half-brother to Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Crimplene - created a very favourable impression on his debut at Newcastle a fortnight ago and it is noteworthy that Godolphin are keeping him on the go whilst the memory is fresh in his mind. However, this surface presents a whole new challenge and the son of Elusive Quality (whose progeny have a poor record on the AW) is not one to be jumping overboard with at cramped odds. Therefore, the logical option is to go with Resplendent Alpha, who has shown great promise in his three starts to date and is more than capable of paying his way at this level if he runs true to form.
