Cursum Perfecto edges a narrow verdict over Zabeel House, Chalentina and Rakata in a tough handicap where just 5lbs separate the top from the bottom in the ratings. Rakata has improved to reach her career highest mark this season and obviously has her act together well at present. She likes to race with the pace and will be hard to peg back if allowed an uncontested lead. The daughter of Quiet American races off a mark that is 5lb lower than her turf rating and has a solid chance of at least making the frame on these terms. Chalentina has been consistent in her career to date (she has won once & been placed four times from just 10 starts.) Henry Cecil's charge is better than she showed last time but, being by useful sprinter Primo Valentino, she needs to prove herself truly at home over this trip. She also lacks experience of the surface and comes here with a bit to prove. After beating Speciosa in a Ripon maiden last summer, Zabeel House was highly tried as a juvenile. And it has taken time to find the right level for him this term. This is now about his grade and a bold bid should be forthcoming. However, Cursum Perfecto has put in several promising efforts lately - creating the impression that his turn is just around the corner. That, combined with the likelihood of a fair price, makes the William Muir-trained gelding the most attractive betting proposition in a nightmare of a race to assess.
