Karl Burke's Barrissimo is officially best in at the weights according to BHB ratings but the son of Night Shift has given little sign of encouragement since his juvenile days with Peter Harris and preference is for Mac's Talisman, who gets the verdict ahead of Boundless Prospect. The last mentioned has been struggling in handicaps but this grade has looked more his level in recent starts. The son of Boundary has yet to fully prove his effectiveness over today's trip though and a safer bet may be Mac's Talisman. Vince Smith's five-year-old would not hold an obvious chance on the evidence of his two previous starts this term but he should strip fitter for those runs, is proven over both course and distance and is well treated at the weights. Rowan Pursuit has been in good form in handicaps of late but John Akehurst's filly faces no easy task at the weights, while Jomus is turned out quickly having run Barton Sands to half-a-length here over 10 furlongs on Friday. One Upmanship and Blackmail hold place claims but Mac's Talisman has plenty in his favour and gets the vote.
