Verdict
Mae Cigan showed plenty of promise on his recent debut and gets the vote here ahead of Jack It and Grimes Faith. Jonathon Jay's colt contested modest event at Folkestone last week, and after taking a while to get the hang of things, stayed on really well in the final furlong to finish third to the more experienced Red Emerald. If he handles this different surface he will be hard to beat. Grimes Faith is trained by Richard Hannon, who's juveniles tend to improve quite a lot from their first outings. This son of Woodborough was well behind Salute Him on his debut at Folkestone, but we may see a different animal today. The pick of the newcomers could be Mick Channon's Jack It, an Irish bred daughter of Distant Music who cost 48 thousand Euros as a yearling. The betting market should give a guide to this one's chances. So a race that will not be won by a world beater should go to Mae Cigan.
