Savoy Chapel is a progressive three-year-old and has to be respected but it is never easy for the classic generation at this time of year and preference is for Soviet Threat, who gets the verdict over Chief Dipper. The selection was claimed out of Michael Bell's stable after making a winning debut here over seven furlongs and duly followed up for new connections in a handicap over the same trip at Wolverhampton suggesting that there would be more to come, especially over today's longer trip. Gay Kelleway's Fiveoclock Express seemed not to stay 10 furlongs last time and may do better back over a mile and has claims along with Whitgift Rock, who was narrowly beaten by Plausabelle in a course and distance handicap last time. Chief Dipper was unable to reproduce recent all-weather form on turf last month and may do better back on this surface. Like Savoy Chapel, he is a three-year-old and may be able to take a hand but the older horses have an advantage at this time of year and preference is for Soviet Threat.
