Peveril Pride has shown a similar level of form in each of his last two starts and, over a trip of three miles that should suit ideally, Jonathan Geake's gelding is the selection to take advantage of what appears a favourable mark and gets the vote ahead of Dr Mann and Lordington Lad. The last mentioned is less exposed than most of these and showed improved form at Ludlow last time. With further improvement to come, Brendan Powell's gelding rates a bigger threat than Uttoxeter winner Syncopated Rhythm, who has been punished by the handicapper for that success. Bumper winner Real Definition has given little cause for optimism since being switched to fences, while Charming Fellow may struggle to give weight away all round. Carroll's O'Tully has shown only a modicum of ability so far and of more interest may be Dr Mann, although lack of a recent run may be of concern to his supporters. There are no such concerns with Peveril Pride though and he gets the vote.
