No surprise to see CRITICIZE put in at a short price though Woodlark Island and Crazy Chris will ensure that this engagement is no pushover. Roger Charlton's colt was sent off a ridiculously warm favourite for a Chepstow event off the back of a very smart second at Newbury on debut. In fairness, the winner has gone on to bag a Newcastle event since but it really is a case of a recovery mission on this occasion. Woodlark Island is tried without the headgear that has accompanied his two most recent starts. It is interesting that connections are now dropping back in trip as the horse seemed to plug on well enough over ten furlongs at Newbury. Tom Dascombe won't train too many maiden four-year-olds so the market is watched in relation to Crazy Chris. A winner of a bumper, she has joined Dascombe following the tragic death of Pip Payne. Orthology was highly tried as a juvenile and that regrettably made life tough in handicaps. He was well held in a similar affair recently at Folkestone. Ryker hails from a family that have had their fair share of decent milers though he appears not to have inherited too much of that. Silvester was a very cheap purchase. A half-brother to a moderate seven furlong mare, he is at least from a family that the trainer should know plenty about. Yashkur was well beaten in a Redcar handicap and much more is required here. Criticize is no laydown here but he should be good enough to take today's contest.
