Verdict

Befortyfour, Doric Lady and Spic 'n Span look to be the leading lights in this maiden with the narrow preference for Doric Lady. The selection is proven on this surface and there was plenty to like about the way she ran at Nottingham last time when she was narrowly beaten by Quaroma. She is having her first run since November but she has gone well fresh in the past and she can prove tough to beat. Befortyfour showed promise on 2 runs last season but he has never raced on this surface before and he has an even longer absence to overcome so he could be one to swerve. Spic 'n Span has got some fair form but he is more exposed than most of these and it will be a surprise if he is good enough to land this event. Tune Up The Band hasn't been seen on the racecourse since April 2006 so is hard to recommend, and we will stick with Doric Lady to land the prize.
