THE KIDDYKID is sure to be popular with Jamie Spencer aboard and will do for us in a race where Dingaan and Hinton Admiral must also be high on the short-list. The Kiddykid's sole all-weather success in just a handful of starts came over this course and distance just over a year ago from a one pound higher mark. He will need to be kept up to his work early on to hold his pitch from a low draw but he has the right man on board and comes into the race on the back of a decent effort. Dingaan is infuriating to follow on grass but it's a different story on the all-weather where he has won three of his nine starts. He's not an easy ride and this is the first time that David Probert has been aboard on race day but he's on a winning mark even before his pilot's claim is taken into account and merits respect. Hinton Admiral won a Listed race over course and distance in March 2007 when the handicapper had him rated in excess of a hundred. He's now rated in the mid-eighties but has shown signs of late that a return to the winner's enclosure could be imminent and he's well worth considering. Marginal preference though is for The Kiddykid.
