MAID OF AILSA did enough on debut to think that she can win a race of this nature if making normal improvement from debut. Madame Hoi rates the main danger although In With A Shout is worth a look on debut. A fairly typical end of season maiden with a number of the field having almost exhausted their opportunities. That is far from the case with Willie Haggas' filly who took the eye on debut in March when staying on strongly to finish a close third. Her subsequent absence is obviously a concern but we'll put our trust in her handler. Madame Hoi has had twelve starts already, showing a reasonable level of form and making the frame on four occasions. She is holding her form well and could be the one to take advantage if the expected improvement from the selection doesn't materialise. James Given is capable of readying a newcomer and his Choisir filly makes a good deal of appeal on paper but whether she can actually run is anybody's guess at this stage. Perhaps the market will reveal the answer in respect to her chances and those of our selection Maid Of Ailsa.
