Multakka has been a costly failure in the past but this race looks barely better than a seller and so Marcus Tregoning's gelding gets the nomination. The selection, a nicely-bred performer is yet to get off the mark in ten starts to date and has continually managed to find at least one too good. Blinkers have been tried in the past as he tends to pull hard and then doesn't always seem too inclined to go past his rivals. He is no good thing at the likely odds but the opposition is poor. Newcomer Cyril The Squirrel certainly doesn't make much appeal on his debut, so the only feasible danger looks to be Imperial Amber. After two nondescript bumper runs, he shaped with some ability on his first outing at Wolverhampton but it remains to be seen whether this drop in trip will suit. Takaamul returns to seven furlongs in the hope of gleaning some more improvement, whilst Ring Of Charm and Rollin 'n Tumblin have shown little but each may improve. The worst race of the week, and Multakka can surely not throw this opportunity away.
