This is a far cry from the level of competition the connections of Give Back Calais could have hoped for after the son of Brief Truce was placed in a Listed race on only his third ever start. However, he has run well in defeat against much better opposition that he faces today and it will be another big blow for all concerned if the five-year-old does not have too much resolution for the likes of Gilded Dancer, Wahj and Mutabassir. The Peter Makin team have just started to fire on all cylinders and Give Back Calais can gain a welcome confidence booster today. Gilded Dancer has 10lb to find with the selection on the official figures for the race but looks set to give him the most to do if he runs anywhere near his best. Where as Wahj, who is also capable of going close if on song, will do well to do any more than set the race up for a finisher. Mutabassir and Al Muallim are regulars in this grade, but will only be able to capitalise if there is a lot of trouble in running.
