In depth

Verdict

A disappointing turnout and unless there is something special amongst the newcomers BETHRAH can start her season with a victory. Dermot Weld's daughter of Marju made her racecourse debut at a very exalted level in the Goffs Million Sprint at the Curragh in September. She showed signs of temperament at the start and missed the break but ran really well under the circumstances and should go on to much better things. Queenie Keen made a promising debut in a big field at Naas in October and should have benefited from her return behind Blue Dahlia at the Curragh while Jim Bolger's Gearanai made a nice start in a decent maiden at the Curragh before a disappointing effort on polytrack at Dundalk. The speedily-bred Pinnk may prove best of the three newcomers.
