Ed McMahon has his string in good shape at present and he can take this with MILITARY CALL, while Ginger Ted and On The Bounty are respected. The selection is 4lbs higher than when winning over a similar trip at Redcar last time out on firm going. However, he has handled good to soft in the past, as did his sire, and so conditions should be of no concern and we will take him to find the necessary improvement. Another potential improver is Duke Of Rainford. Ian Williams' gelding has a bit to find at the weights but has had only four runs so far and the last of those showed that he acts on soft ground as he did when winning at Haydock. The step up in trip should be no problem and he is respected. Heavy ground did not prevent Ginger Ted winning at Nottingham, but that may have taken the edge off him for this, especially with a 6lb penalty to shoulder and so we will oppose. Debut winner On The Bounty was never a threat when trying to follow up at Beverley earlier in the month and now has a bit to prove and we will side with Military Call.
