Evelyn May won well at Haydock when last seen in May and Barry Hills has his team in better form now but the booking of an inexperienced apprentice would have to be a concern and a better bet may be David Simcock's DESERT PHANTOM, who showed an ability to handle cut in the ground when a close up third behind Brave Prospector at Yarmouth last week and he can open his account for the campaign. Richard Price's Barons Spy has shown improved form of late and looks the main danger as Walvis Bay seems too high in the weights and La Fortunata would want faster ground. Noodles Blue Boy is a consistent performer and should be thereabouts again but Desert Phantom looks the one to beat.
