This is a tight and interesting handicap with the short listed three being The Gaikwar, Personify and Barons Spy, with the selection being The Gaikwar. Surwaki ran well at Ascot last time suggesting that his turn is maybe not far away so he has to be considered, while The Gaikwar rattled home at Newmarket last time and, from the same mark, looks a leading player. Personify can also be considered given that he is four pounds better off for a length and a half based on a recent Chepstow run with The Gaikwar. Much as Champain Sands has a career-high winning mark to defy is he going score, he comes here in good heart following two successive wins and he cannot be ruled out of things. Course and distance winner Cantarna also has to be of interest, although Barons Spy is weighted to reverse that c/d form, but Blue Empire, who has won since, looks held on the form of that same race. Of the others, Catskill is edging back towards a winning mark, although that win came over ten furlongs. Add it all up and we rate The Gaikwar as a sporting selection.
